The Canadian musician was reportedly in the prison yard of California Correctional Institution when he was stabbed, though details of the attack and its motive remain unclear. Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 after being convicted on three felony counts related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. On Friday (May 9), just days before the stabbing, the hip-hop star shared an Instagram slideshow of him surrounded by fellow inmates, while giving an update on a future project he has in the works. “UPDATE : 2025,” Lanez captioned the post. “IYKYK LESS IMPORTANT UPDATE : 2ND ALBUM 100 % RECORDED, MIXED & MASTERED NEW ALBUM.
