Trivia Night: Disney Edition – August 12 – 6pm-8pm at Emerald Coast Science Center.

A whole new world of fun! Test your wits at this special Disney edition of Trivia Night. Maximum 6 people per team. This event is for ages 21 & up. Prizes for winning team.

Welcome to a trivia night based on the magical place on Earth. Whether it’s classic movies, park history, or wacky facts, our Disney trivia will keep you on your toes. Teams (maximum of 6 people per team) are invited to come nerd out with us and decide once and for all who’s Lady and the Champ. The winning team will receive one $25 gift certificate to the center, good for admission, workshops, gift shop purchases, planetarium events, and more. Have a drink, come up with a ridiculous team name (Walt Quizney, anyone?), and start the weekend off right with a fun trivia challenge. Hakuna Matata, friends.

The 10th Annual Paddle at the Park is Saturday, August 20th at 9am, rain or shine. The event is sponsored by HCA Florida Destin Emergency and will be held at Henderson Beach State Park. It features a Kids’ Fun Paddle, 1-mile Beginner Race, 3-mile Recreational Race and 6-mile Elite Race, followed by awards. Emerald Coast Science Center’s Planetarium Special Feature: Norse Mythology

We invite you to sit under the stars and listen to the action-packed stories of the Norse gods: Thor, Loki, Odin, and Freya. On this tour of the solar system, you’ll learn fun facts about the planets, how the Nine Realms of Norse mythology were created, and how the days of the week received their names from the Norse gods. The show will end with a dazzling display of Norse constellations & legends.

Our Planetarium is an inflatable dome. Guests sit on cushions on the floor of the planetarium to view the show. Shows begin at 6 and 7 pm and last approximately 45 minutes.

The City of Crestview invites you to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new park and splash pad located at 375 N. Wilson Street in downtown Crestview. The splash pad was made possible by a generous donation from Crestview Rotary. The ribbon cutting is Wednesday, August 27th and 2pm.

September 9

The African American Military Heritage Society (AAMHS) will host a first-ever Caribbean Dinner Fundraiser from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9, at the Air Force Armament Museum, 100 Museum Drive.

This event will feature a fantastic blend of food, music, and history of the Caribbean Islands. The evening will include a cash bar from 5 to 6 p.m. with a four-course dinner served at 6 p.m. that will include appetizers, salads, entrée, and dessert. Attire will be semi-formal.

Planetarium Special Feature: Spooky Secrets of the Stars is October 27th from 5-8pm, sponsored by FPL. Come dressed in Halloween costumes, get your Trick-or-Treat candy, and prepare to be scared! We’re ready to celebrate Halloween under the night sky in our inflatable planetarium. Join us for a fun and scary night of monster stories, inspired by our planets, moons, and stars. There will be stories of familiar monsters (werewolves, vampires, and minotaurs), unfamiliar monsters (Karakondzula, Chimera, and Coatlicue), and the heroes who battled them. In a battle between good and evil, who will win?

Join our 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. show for family-friendly stories about the creepy creatures of mythology hidden in the night sky. These showings are appropriate for ages 5-6 and up. Our 7 p.m. Spooktacular Show is more appropriate for ages 8 and up as the tales told during this show are spookier. All shows last approximately 45 minutes

The two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.  With brilliantly intricate music that is both gorgeous and heartbreaking, “The Last Five Years” is a beautifully compelling chronicle in the book of love.
