Salvation Army looking for Bell Ringers for the Holidays- Now-November 17th

The Salvation Army in Okaloosa and Walton Counties is seeking organizations and volunteers to ring bells at various sites in our area. The need is greater than ever as many people impacted by Hurricane Michael are now looking to our local community charities for support.  The Salvation Army Bell Ringing Kick-off is November 17th, and takes place Mondays through Saturdays, but never on Sundays. Last year we helped 75 families and 215 children through our Christmas Connections Project. With your help, we’ll all make the holidays happier through Christmas Connections.

23rd Annual Thanksgiving Meal at Harbor Docks Destin- November 22nd

Give Thanks at Harbor Docks Destin this year by eating, sharing, and volunteering. 24th Annual Thanksgiving Day meal will be served 11 AM-7 PM, compliments of Harbor Docks Destin. Enjoy a FREE traditional Thanksgiving Day meal with turkey, ham, and all the trimmings served by Habitat volunteers. No reservations required. Donations will be accepted but are not required, proceeds to benefit Okaloosa Habitat and Destin Harvest. With cowboys and cowgirls donned in festive, western holiday wear, the 2018 Cattle Barons’ Ball theme will be “Cowboy Christmas” in what has become the area’s premier fund raising event with 500 guests.

“Christmas at the Beach” – The 2018 Destin Christmas Parade on December 8

The City of Destin’s 34th Annual Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is “Christmas at the Beach.” Floats will begin at Downtown Destin Shopping Center (Old Time Pottery) and travel west down Harbor Blvd. (Hwy 98) to Stahlman Avenue. Spectators should stand on the north side of Harbor Blvd. to watch the parade. For those who wish to enter a float in the parade, applications are available at the Destin Community Center and online here. In lieu of an entry fee, each float entry must make a donation of a new toy for a local charity and drop it off at the Destin Community Center along with a completed application. Applications must be turned in no later than Friday, Nov. 30, 2018. Please call the Community Center at 654-5184 for more information.

14TH Annual Emerald Coast Chirstmas Miracle Cchildren’s Fiesta- December 16th

“Uniting the Community…for the Children!”

United for a Good Cause Inc., a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization, invites you to be part of our 14th Annual “EMERALD COAST CHRISTMAS MIRACLE” Needy Children’s Fiesta! The event will be a fun-filled “Latin-Flavored” party open to needy children & families regardless of race, ethnicity or creed!

EVERYTHING WILL BE FREE at this party including new toys for all that attend!  There will be food, games, DJs, singers, church choirs, clowns, magicians, dance contests for bikes and more.  Free coats courtesy of the United Way’s “Coats for Kids” program will also be given out.  Santa and his hard-working group of elves will all be there to ensure all the kids get a new toy!

Over 1,500 children and families are expected to attend!

The party is scheduled for Sunday, December 16, 1 – 7pm, at the Santa Rosa Mall, 200 Mary Esther Blvd, Mary Esther, FL, 32569.  We request attendees to enter via the Food Court entrance!

From 1 – 2pm, ONLY families with kids with disabilities will be allowed as a way of providing them an opportunity to enjoy the activity before the general public comes in.  The general public will be allowed to enter starting at 2pm.

The support of the generous Emerald Coast community of businesses and individuals is needed to make this already very popular and high attendance event the best ever!

Business sponsorship opportunities are available and we welcome monetary or in-kind donations.
