Sandy Sansing Dealerships Sponsor 43rd Annual Spelling Bee- January 14th

Sandy Sansing Chevrolet, Nissan, BMW, Mazda, MINI of Pensacola, Sandy and Bubba’s Milton Chevrolet and Sandy Sansing Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram will host the 43rd Annual Sandy Sansing Dealerships Spelling Bee at the Booker T. Washington High School Auditorium on Monday, January 14; Tuesday, January 15; and Thursday, January 17, 2019

Students in 5th through 12th grades in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will compete in preliminary and championship matches at the Washington High School Auditorium.  The 5th grade spelling bee matches will be held on Monday, January 14th at 5 pm; the middle school spelling bee matches will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 5 pm; and the high school spelling bee matches will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 5 pm.

 

Each grade will compete individually.  The winners of grades 6-8 will then compete to decide an overall middle school winner and grades 9-12 for the honor of being the overall high school winners.  Cash prizes will be awarded to both preliminary and championship match winners.

ResortQuest presents the Winter Guest Fest- January 17

Every January, the Emerald Coast welcomes thousands of winter visitors, the Snowbirds. For over a decade, ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals has worked alongside the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce to present the area’s best-attended trade show for over 1,500 of its winter visitors.

In 2019, the Winter Guest Fest will be held on Thursday, January 17 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center Ballroom from 8 am until noon. Admission will be only $2.  Previous attendees have had the delight of leaving happy with plenty of coupons, giveaways, and surprises for all.

Winter Guests will be delighted to see some of their favorite businesses, along with a few new vendors, represented at the event. Some of the vendor categories represented are dining, resorts, shopping, hotels, entertainment and more.

This year, ResortQuest remains the presenting sponsor for the Winter Guest Fest. Melissa Matern, on behalf of Resort Quest said, “We can’t wait to see what this year’s event has in store!  It’s always such fun to meet our new snowbirds and to reconnect with returning regulars.”

30A Songwriters Festival- Jan18th-21st

The 10th annual 30A Songwriters Festival is scheduled for January 18 – 21, 2019 and tickets are on sale now!

Over the course of the weekend, the festival will feature performances by more than 175 songwriters in venues along coastal Florida’s scenic Hwy 30A.

Net proceeds from the 30A Songwriters Festival benefit the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County and help it to fulfill its mission to support the arts throughout Walton County.

Okaloosa Island Dance Party- February 1st

The biggest one night dance party on the Emerald Coast! “Dance through the years” to music by the Emerald Gold Band playing favorites from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s. Join a night of exciting live music, dancing, silent auction, wii sport games, vintage Pinball and video arcade machines.

Dance the night away on Friday, February 1 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center! A Rube Goldberg Machine is a crazy contraption which accomplishes a simple task in the most complicated – and funniest – way possible. Maybe your machine will help you open a beer, snap a selfie of your squad, or simply create chaos. Either way, you don’t want to miss this night at the museum.

International Festival- March 23

CALL FOR BANDS, SINGERS, FOLKLORIC GROUPS, CLUBS, and ASSOCIATIONS interested in participating at the 2nd Annual INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL Fort Walton Beach!

This festival’s purpose is to bring the entire community together in UNITY, regardless of ethnicity, race, or creed, to enjoy a high quality, family-friendly event.

This FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Festival is scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 10am – 9pm, at the beautiful main ballroom of the Emerald Coast Convention Center.  It will include Live/DJ Music, Food, Folklore, and/or Art, from as many nations as possible, plus a fun kid’s zone.

Last year’s event was a huge success and this one will be even bigger and better.  It is organized by Conexión Media Group and co-sponsored by the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Business Sponsorships are available and this event will provide you an invaluable opportunity to market to the most varied audience of any community event.

Vendors that sell products, food, arts/crafts and/or want to inform the public about their products or services are welcomed!

Part of the proceeds from INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL Fort Walton Beach will benefit Opportunity Place Inc. – a shelter for single women and families who are homeless.
