The Flying Needles Quilt Guild, a 501 (3) (c) organization, is now offering Raffle Tickets in return for a donation for a prize-winning Opportunity Quilt for 2010. This stunning quilt, 72" x 95", has 12 stars and an applique border in the brilliant gem colors of red, blue, green, yellow, purple, and gold on a black background. Professional appraiser Alma Moates gave an appraisal replacement value of for $3,800.00 at the present time. Donation tickets are $1.00 each, or six tickets for $5.00. The proceeds of this raffle help fund the charitable donations the Guild makes: Wheelchair lapquilts for the VA Hospital, Quilts of Valor for wounded soldiers, adult bibs for patients in nursing homes, and 4 items for children in shelters: quilts, Christmas stockings stuffed with personal hygiene and items of use, drawstring totes for personal items and smaller zip totes for hygiene, cosmetics or school supplies.

The drawing will be in November of 2010. A second prize will be given, which is a crazy quilt with embroidery, consisting of blocks turned in by the many members.
