June 22nd and 23rd: Playground Amateur Radio Club Demonstrations

The Playground Amateur Radio Club (PARC) will be conducting an Amateur Radio Demonstration at their clubhouse (located at corner of Church and First Streets in FWB) on June 22nd from 1-10p and on June 23rd from 8a-1p. Demos will include voice contacts and data contacts. They hope to also include Morse Code contacts and contacts with satellites and the International Space Station if available. This event is free and open to the public.

July 4th: Fourth Of July At The Landing

The City of Fort Walton Beach will celebrate Independence Day at the Landing on Thursday, July 4, 2019, from 4-10 p.m. The event is free to the public and includes kid activities, live music and a firework show. Festivities kick off at 4 p.m. and an opening ceremony featuring a welcome from Mayor Dick Rynearson, presentation from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem will take place at 5 p.m. The Pensacola band Horseshoe Kitty will begin at 4 p.m. followed by Miles Flatt from Mississippi at 6:30 p.m. A Kid Zone area featuring bounce houses, inflatable slides and games will also be available, all for free. A firework display with a musical background will take place over Santa Rosa Sound at 8:45 p.m.! Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the evening. The Landing is located at 139 SE Brooks Street in Fort Walton Beach. Contact the City of FWB Recreation Department at (850) 833-9576 for more information.

July 13th: Field Day Slacker Event

Missed our Slacker 0.5K event? Or maybe you had so much fun you just can’t wait for the next one? Either way, The Boathouse is bringing you FIELD DAY, another event where you can show off your top notch athletic abilities. All proceeds will benefit Panhandle Animal Welfare Society just like last time. It’s for the animals, people!

Teams of 6 are welcome to participate in Field Day, which features a tournament style of 5 games that must be completed with beer in hand. Each team will have a variety of chances to win and lose points over the course of the event and additional prizes will be given out for the Best Dressed Team and Best Dressed Individual! **Water may be involved, so dress accordingly**

This event DOES have a limit on the number of teams, so register early before the spots are filled!
